What Makes PAX Different?
We at PAX Learning Center believe that teaching is an art, not a science. Rather, it is an art based in science. Therefore, we take a person-centered approach to helping students learn.
You, the student, are our number one stakeholder. We see each student as a unique person who may learn differently than others. Our approach is individualized. When we teach, it is centered around you and at your pace, not ours. You will not be working in a regular style class centered on one teacher and working at someone else's pace. Instead, you will be working in a classroom where there is one tutor/teacher to every three students, giving you more opportunities to get one-on-one support.
Your goals are our goals, we are merely guides being permitted, by you, to join you on this part of your journey. We will work with you to help you fill gaps, whatever they are. Its not just about the GED or learning ESL, it is about creating a foundation upon which you can build. Some students need to learn how to set and achieve goals, others need to learn time management, or develop study skills. We want to help you build your confidence, not only in school, but also in yourself.
Yes, we help you work on math, reading language arts, social studies and science, but these are building blocks being placed upon the foundation mentioned above. With PAX, we work on so much more. You can be yourself, move at your own speed, and build on your foundation with more success. We know this can be a scary endeavor, but we are here for you every step of the way.
You're not alone. We believe in you.
First, Passion: being driven by a desire to help people succeed and achieve their dreams. Second, Patience: change takes time. Third, Flexibility: being able to change and adapt to each student's needs. Fourth, Genuine Care: the student is our number one stakeholder, putting students, their needs, and their success first. Fifth, Humility: it is not a teacher to student relationship, it is peer to peer. Finally, Resilience: being able to bounce back no matter what.
